Sustainable Development Goals

Our commitment to sustainability is demonstrated through the following initiatives.

We have initiated programmes that provide access of resources to the poor and the vulnerable. These programmes include: A bi-weekly feeding programme, monetary donations to Jalaram Hospital, provision of scholarship and internship opportunities, donation of reusable menstrual pads and drilling of a dam in Samburu County.

We make an annual monetary contribution and donations in kind to Jalaram Hospital advancing health and well-being initiatives within the community. We run an annual blood drive in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Stoni Athi and have managed to collect about 145 pints of blood per drive.

We have financed the drilling of a 70 metre well in Samburu with the aim of providing access to clean, safe drinking water to approximately 1,200 people Our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) treats all our chemical waste in accordance with standards set by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) therefore safeguarding the ecological balance of water bodies.

We are quickly integrating use of renewable sources of energy into our production process. We have increased our reliance on solar energy, which now accounts for 17% of our energy demand. We commissioned an energy efficient automated boiler which has resulted in over 3,332,000 MJ in energy savings and 4,570 tons water savings annually. It also reduced our biomass requirements lowering our carbon footprint. We recycled over 900,000 Kgs of waste from our production process in 2022 and 2023 We have integrated sustainable production in our plants by using recycled products such as paper in our tissue plant
