Enjoy the Holidays but keep your guard up

Everybody’s favourite time of the year is with us again. But this year, we are all celebrating the holidays differently due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March this year, we have not been able to do the things we love to do or go to the places we like. There is a lot of fatigue caused my long months of routine and plenty of nostalgia brought about by memories of a time when we could celebrate with more abandon; and unfortunately, we are still in the middle of the pandemic. This December, we would like to share with you ideas on how to keep your guard up against COVID-19 and still enjoy the holidays with your family.

  • Love from a distance – This holiday, celebrating away from your family might be the most loving thing you can do for them. Elderly people and young children are at much higher risk of catching COVID. Protect your loved ones by celebrating away from them. Use social media or other methods to still keep in touch with them and pass the festive cheer!

  • Go big on keeping it small – If you already have your family with you, consider spending time together outside instead of inside the house. Picnics and Christmas dinner can be really special. Gathering outside, especially when people wear masks and keep their distance, substantially cuts the risk of transmitting the virus.

  • Make rules and stick to them – Make sure you set boundaries and respect other people’s boundaries. Each family has the responsibility to protect itself and its community from the virus. Do not be offended when a family member prefers to keep their mask on at a family gathering or if they choose not to attend at all. Make COVID-19 safety guidelines the law in your home and ensure everybody washes their hands with soap regularly. Jamaa Laundry bar soap is a trusted and economically priced option for this. You may see the reasons why here.

Do share with us who and how you are spending the holidays with this year.
