Heart Attack Ticking Bomb?

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death in Kenya followed by infectious diseases and cancer. This can be heavily attributed to the lifestyle we choose for ourselves. It is important to address the fact the decisions we make today (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional) affect the quality of our lives.

Here are some health markers you might want to look out for:

  1. High Cholestrol

Ever heard of people getting strokes randomly and passing on? Or mild leg pains that lead to amputation? High Cholestrol can be extremely dangerous and may lead to hardening of the arteries if not monitored correctly. It is therefore important to have a healthy dose of balanced fats to ensure the heart stays healthy.

  1. Diabetes

Sweet tooth anyone? Eating too much sugar not only makes you add an unnecessary amount of weight, it also increases the level of sugar in the blood, which results in type two diabetes. People who have gotten this diabetes type can attribute it to poor diet. Ensure that you eat the right food; food that is low in both sugar and cholesterol.

  1. Excessive smoking and alcohol

Sharp heart pains and unnecessary weight gain? Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and cigarettes causes raised blood pressure which is one of the buggest risk factors for having a heart attack or a stroke. Perhaps there is something that is stressing you out leading to dependency on drugs and alcohol. We advise you consult with your doctor to find suitable treatment methods for you or explore alternative healing processes like mindfulness and meditation.
