When it comes to bringing people together in a shared love for sports, nothing beats the World Cup. Even those of us who are seasonal fans can’t resist the wave of enthusiasm as the creme de la creme of the sport of the world’s footballers put on a spectacle of a show.
The World Cup also presents an opportunity to play host to your friends and family. If for nothing else, just as an excuse to have a great time and catch up with your loved ones.
Speaking of great times, you’ll want to consider putting in a little thought and effort towards ensuring your ‘plots’ are not blacklisted among your friends as flat and lifeless. Here are a few ideas to ensure your event leaves a lasting impression.
The Seating
Ensure everyone gets a seat with a clear view of the TV before the game starts. Don’t feel obliged to provide a stadium-like experience. If seats are not enough, blankets and throw pillows on the floor will do the trick. Gather all those functional chairs around the house like the one you keep at the study desk if you have to increase your seating capacity. As long as everybody has a clear view of the TV, one way or another, you’ll be unlikely to hear any complaints.
The Gathering Area
Identify a practical area where your friends can gather for small talk and to catch up away from the activities on the screen. This will almost without fail, happen naturally, so you might as well plan for it. Most times friends will tend to gravitate towards the kitchen area where extra snacks are located while the real fans keep their eyes glued to the scoreboard on the screen.
The Engaging Host
Great hosts make great parties. It all starts and ends with your attitude as the host. Nothing dampens such an intimate occasion like a stressed out host. Even the greatest disasters will be forgiven with the right attitude.
