KAPA LIFETYLE – MAKING THE MOST OUT OF THE WEEKEND

Recently something unusual happened. Suddenly Kenyans had a 5 day weekend. From Friday to Tuesday. The weekend included Labour and Id Ul Fitr. For those with formal employment, suddenly, one had two extra off days. People went wild. Some argued that the holidays shouldn’t be that long. However, what came out strongly is that how to weekend is a mystery.

How do you make the most out of weekends such that they add to your overall quality of life? Here are a few tips.

Treat your weekend as you would your vacation. Plan it! Decide beforehand how you intend to recoup the energy you use in the workweek. Will you stay indoors and take care of the plants? Do you want to see a long-time friend? Is there a social event, perhaps a wedding, that may take up a big chunk of it? Make all these decisions early and plan accordingly.

Use the weekend for personal development. For example, is there something you have been procrastinating? Make the first step. Do yoga, go on a hike, start painting or read a book. Some may find cleaning therapeutic. Consider cleaning your washrooms with Atilla Toilet Cleaner if you march this description. Thank us later. Understand that the work routine is already ingrained in you. You may be unable to relax and think about anything else other than work.

Sunday is not a pre-Monday. This may be controversial, but how about planning your next week on Friday. It will eliminate the anxiety that befalls most of us on Sunday afternoons. If you are wondering what this is. It’s simply worrying about the tasks you are expected to deliver in the coming week. This anxiety robs you of the bliss and serenity you need to rest during the weekend.

Lastly, when the weekend comes, slow down. It is perfectly okay to rest. Listen to your body. Doing the things you love is the best way to beat fatigue. You will end up significantly more productive and happier. More long weekends are around the corner. Do you have more weekending tips? Tell us in the comments below.
