Host In Style

It’s National Humour Month, and what better way to bring joy and laughter to the home than to invite some friends over after a week of work for some good food and conversations full of mucene, great stories and jokes? You need just the right ambience, finger-licking food and of course, a great outfit. Whatever the reason for the party, it is paramount that you, as the host, look good.

Let’s explore some wardrobe ideas for hosting your house event, shall we?

Dress for the occasion

What time is the party? Who are your guests? These are just some of the things you will need to consider when deciding what kind of attire fits the occasion. A casual dinner with friends isn’t too demanding. Hop into a decent pair of jeans with a dressy top and you are all set. If you need to impress on the other hand, maybe because you’re hosting your bosses or other more formal associates, putting in a bit more thought and effort into how you look will score you points. A simple but chic dress may do the trick.

Stand out

Unique is the way to go. Dressing in a unique way is always bound to start a conversation and break the ice especially when hosting the girls. Look for something you haven’t worn in a while or something you teamed up with your fundi to custom-make from scratch or through alteration.

Flaunt YOUR style

People can see right through a fake and forced, super fancy look. Stay true to your style when choosing an outfit. If ‘girly’ is not you, stay away from the look. Don’t make a costume out of the style your guests prefer just because you want to fit in. Remember, it’s YOUR event. Your friends may think you are trying too hard to impress them or worse, that you are trying to intimidate them.

It’s okay to be comfortable

You can’t entertain and serve your guest while suffocating under that uncomfortable piece of attire. Or worse still, when your size 8 feet are singing freedom songs in those size 6 shoes. Be comfortable. It’s your house. You got this.
