Resurrect Your Make-Up

Face it. We women can hardly leave the house without our make-up, whether it be a full face beat, or a little bit of eyeliner and lip colour. Here’s another truth: make-up is expensive! With the Easter season upon us, here are some ideas on how you can slay while using make-up you already own, also known as give them new life.

Mascara

For those of us with dull eyelashes mascara really comes through but who says it can only be used on our lashes?

Have you run out of eyeliner or is your eye pencil not just making the cut for you? Put some of your mascara product on an angled brush and use it as liquid liner.

Eye-pencil

At one point or another, we’ve all been disappointed by our pencil. Maybe the colour doesn’t pop like you had expected or it might be too hard for your eyelid’s liking. Before you give up on it and throw it away, take a lighter and burn the tip only slightly, then apply. You now have your very own gel liner!

Eye Shadow

So many palettes, so many shades! Eyeshadow not only makes us spoilt for choice when it comes to selection but also in its versatility. The best part is: you can get nail polish, lip colour and a contour kit all from your palette.

To get nail lacquer, add your preferred colour to clear nail polish and voila! You’ve got a custom shimmery nail polish.

No lip gloss/balm? Mix some powder eye shadow with your preferred clear lip product or Vaseline.

For contouring and highlighting:

  • Highlighter: pick colours that are two shades lighter than you and apply them on the areas where the light hits your face (tip of the nose, cheek and brow bones).
  • Bronzer: pick colours that have undertones like a true bronzer (orange, yellow or red) to avoid looking tacky.

Now go forth and slay on a budget!
