THROW A PICNIC LIKE A PRO

Guys, picnics are in. Not that they ever left. Gatherings have been part of our culture since time immemorial. We fondly refer to them as “get-togethers.” In a time when city dwellers live a busy lifestyle, picnics are a breath of fresh air. Here is how to throw a picnic

like a pro.

Location, location. We can’t stress this enough, where you choose to host the picnic matters a lot. You are looking for a scenic location. Accessible, but not busy. Lush, but not wild. Go for a quiet and serene place. Locations near dams (or water bodies) work wonders for your senses.

How do you do deco? A rustic easy-going look is an excellent direction to take. It’s easy to execute. You will need pallets, shukas or kikois, flowers, and some throw pillows (or bean bags) to sit on. Depending on the size of your party, 2 to 3 pallets are enough. Lay the shukas on the pallets. Decorate with flowers, candles, or lanterns. Then lay the cutlery around it as you would a regular dinner table.

Now that we have the location and setup done, what about food? Healthy food is non-negotiable. Prepare your meals in a way that is consistent with dietary fat recommendations. If you plan to do something light like snacks or sandwiches, use a smooth premium spread like Prestige Margarine. It’s not only tasty but healthy as well. Secondly, a meal plan is necessary. It will make it easier for you to shop and feed your guests.

Do you have a cooler box? Most picnics happen out in the sun, so cold refreshments will be highly appreciated. Where you don’t have one improvise. Any container will do. Add ice to chill your water and other refreshments. Have this in the shade to ensure they stay cool.

Finally, the music. Carry a Bluetooth speaker to play tunes. Curate a playlist that is inclusive where everyone’s taste is catered for. There is always that one friend with impeccable taste in music. Have them be the deejay of the day. By keeping this in mind, you will throw a memorable picnic for your friends and family. Do you have any more tips? Tell us in the comments below.
