Menstrual Hygiene Activation with The Samburu Project

In our quest to create a significant impact and support local communities , Kapa Oil in partnership with The Samburu Project held an on- ground activation for their 5th annual event covering Menstrual Hygiene on Menstrual Hygiene day.

This was carried out in Wamba secondary school – Samburu. The event had a great turnout of 1500 girls from 12 schools across the region. This was graced by the community activist Damaris Lekiluai, who has been a female role model for the community.

Damaris’ passion is to positively impact the lives of Samburu women and girls and her community at large.

Madhvi Dhalal the founder of Padmad carried out a sensitization exercise on the importance of menstrual hygiene.

The students received a dignity kit which contained; padmad sanitary towels which are re-usable for up to 5yrs, Jamaa/tower bar soap from Kapa and a pair of inner wears from Airkenya and Family Bank.

The Samburu Project is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide access to clean water and to continue to support well communities with initiatives that promote health, education, women’s empowerment and general well-being.

TSP has drilled over 145 wells in Samburu, providing clean water to many. They have also established the Samburu Sisters program to further assist women and girls in TSP well communities.

Through educational workshops, women learn about HIV/AIDS, the importance of educating their children, the harmful effects of FGM and child marriage, conflict resolution and women’s empowerment.

Kapa Oil looks forward to fostering a purposeful partnership with The Samburu project to improve the lives of local communities and play our role in reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals specifically on SDG.
