Kapa Oil Partners with the Samburu Project to Drill a Second Well, Bringing Clean Water to Over 1,200 People

Kapa Oil Refineries Limited is proud to once again partner with the Samburu Project in a continued commitment to improving access to clean and safe water in Samburu County. Building on the success of the first borehole, this second well will provide sustainable access to water for over 1,200 community members, transforming lives and strengthening resilience in one of Kenya’s most water-scarce regions.

Access to clean water is not only a basic human right but a critical foundation for health, education and economic empowerment. Through this partnership, Kapa Oil is reaffirming its long-term commitment to ensuring that every family has access to safe drinking water close to home.

For women and girls, the impact is especially profound. In many arid communities, women and young girls spend several hours each day walking long distances in search of water.

By bringing clean water closer to households, this project significantly reduces the burden placed on women allowing them time to pursue income-generating activities, personal development, and community leadership. Girls are able to remain in school consistently, improving attendance, academic performance and long-term educational outcomes.

This initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably:

  • SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – ensuring availability and sustainable management of water for all.
  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – reducing preventable diseases linked to unsafe water, especially among young children.
  • SDG 4: Quality Education – enabling children, particularly girls, to stay in school rather than spending hours fetching water.
  • SDG 5: Gender Equality – empowering women by reducing unpaid labor and creating opportunities for economic and social advancement.
  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – supporting underserved and marginalized communities with essential infrastructure.

This partnership stands as a testament to what can be achieved when the private sector collaborates with development partners to deliver lasting, meaningful impact one well, one family and one community at a time. Water is Life.
