Chocolate Covered Strawberries

What’s there not to love about strawberries? They’re juicy, delicious, rich in nutrients and can be used to make this yum dessert this Valentines. You don’t need to spend too much money or be a top chef to make this sweet treat. That’s not even the best part though. The best part is the smiles on your loved ones faces once they dig in!

Ingredients

12 large ripe strawberries (long stems are best)

1/2 cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet or dark)

1 cup chopped nuts – pecans or almonds (optional)

Procedure

  1. Gently rinse strawberries and dry on paper towels (berries must be completely dry). Line a baking tray with waxed paper.
  2. In a saucepan, melt chocolate chips over low heat, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
  3. Dip lower half of each strawberry into chocolate mixture; allow excess to drip back into saucepan. Immediately roll in your choice of nuts and place on waxed paper-lined tray.
  4. Refrigerate uncovered about 30 minutes or until chocolate is firm, or until ready to serve. Store covered in refrigerator so chocolate does not soften.

Say “I love you” using these simple ingredients to make something with so much spectacular flavour! After all, it is the little things.
