How to start your balcony shamba:
- Grab an old container, yes, even that broken basin you’ve been “saving.”
- Add soil (bonus points if you mix in compost from kitchen scraps like tomato peels or ugali leftovers).
- Pick your fighter: sukuma, spinach, or terere. Plant, water, and let the sun handle the rest.
How to keep them alive:
Water regularly, give them light, and pull out weeds before they start plotting against your sukuma.
What you’ll need:
- 1 bunch fresh sukuma wiki
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp of Rina Vegetable Cooking oil
- Salt to taste
How to prepare:
- Wash the sukuma, remove tough stalks, and slice into thin strips.
- Heat oil in a pan, fry onions until golden.
- Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
- Toss in the sukuma, stir well, add salt, and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Serve hot with ugali, rice, or chapati.
