Make Delicious Rice Patties from Leftover Rice

We all have that container full of rice in our fridge that we have no clue what to do with. Most of us plan to cook some stew to eat it with while some give up trying and opt to throw it all out. But did you know you can turn this rice to amazing patties?

Rice patties are a simple yet delicious way of making use of leftover food that may otherwise go to waste in your kitchen. You can have them for breakfast or as a quick snack for your kids. The recipe is simple and easy to execute. Have the kids try it out too as it will teach them how to recycle cooked food and save up on your budget.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 tablespoon Rina vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Mix rice, onion, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper and coriander by hand in a bowl.
  2. From rice mixture, make 4 small patties by forming small round balls with the mixture then flattening them.
  3. Heat Rina vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry patties in hot oil until lightly browned.

Pro tip: Be careful not to break the patties when turning them over, they can be quite delicate.

Enjoy!
