The Perfect Ramadhan Biryani Recipe

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and fasting. It is also a time when families and friends come together to break their fast and share a meal. Recipe: Chicken Biryani

 

Ingredients

 

2 cups basmati rice

1 lb chicken, cut into small pieces

1 onion, chopped

2 tomatoes, chopped

1 tbsp ginger paste

1 tbsp garlic paste

2 tbsp Rinsun cooking oil

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 cinnamon stick

2 cardamom pods

2 bay leaves

1 tsp salt

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 cup yogurt

1/2 cup mint leaves, chopped

1/2 cup coriander leaves, chopped

1/2 cup fried onions


Instructions

 

-Wash the basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.

-Heat 2 tbsp of Rinsun cooking oil in a pot.

-Add the cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and bay leaves. Cook for 1 minute or until fragrant.

-Add the chopped onion and cook until it is soft and translucent.

-Add the chicken pieces, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, red chili powder, and turmeric powder.

-Cook for 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

-Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes.

-In a separate bowl, mix the yogurt with the chopped mint and coriander leaves.

-Add the yogurt mixture to the chicken and stir well.

-Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot with the chicken.

-Add enough water to cover the rice and bring it to a boil.

-Lower the heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water has evaporated.

-Garnish the biryani with fried onions before serving.
